Despite high altitudes and challenging conditions, all the major animal groups are represented in the Australian Alps. This factsheet looks at some of the endemic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates living in the Alps. Adaptations such as hibernation, torpor and migration are explored as well as the impacts and control of introduced animals.
